| Open Space Committee meeting minutes        Tuesday, October 21, 2014 Present: Kelton, Jim, Phil, Deb, Karen, Kim Guests: Leslie Regh, Eric and Jim from a local chapter of the New England Mountain Bikers Association, Rick, and Wally Whitney. Kelton introduced the T.A.P. (Trail Around Princeton) concept to the group. The goal is to make a circle around town that will be for all non-motorized use. The spokes off of it may have restrictions or not, depending on the landowners’ preferences. The people in attendance will be sub-committees of the Open Space Committee. The seven “dots” to connect are: Four Corners, Mt. Wachusett, Leominster State Forest, Krashes Field, Thomas Prince School, Red Fox Farm, Boylston Park (and then back to Four Corners). These locations are well-known, and they all already have some trails. Additionally, some have plenty of parking. The Board of Selectmen have endorsed the plan. We will stress the benefits of the trail for the residents, and the main purpose is for residents of Princeton; this is not intended to attract people to the town per se. We hope to use existing trails as much as possible. Parts of the T.A.P. that have to be researched and developed include:
From Leominster State Forest (really from the Quik Stop on Main Street) to Krashes Field – assigned to Jim from NEMBAFrom Krashes Field to Thomas Prince School – assigned to Deb Cary and Kim HoudeFrom Thomas Prince School to Red Fox Farm – assigned to Wally WhitneyFrom Red Fox Farm to Boylston Park – assigned to Ed Sweeney and Tom Sullivan (unbeknownst to them, as they were not present)And from Boylston Park back to Four Corners – assigned to Leslie Regh We hope to have information from these volunteers for our next meeting. Meeting adjourned 7:56 p.m.
